First Day Back

Sometimes fate sends you a sign. And sometimes - thankfully not often - that sign comes in the form of a corpse. Not. Kidding.

Fed up with today’s dating scene after a long term relationship ended badly years ago, feisty Latina science teacher Bridget Cruz has all but given up hope of ever finding The One. Shocked when she discovers a dead body in her classroom before the new school year starts, she doesn’t think life could get any more frustrating. Eyeroll.

The local police chief is prepared to sign off with a “death by natural causes” ruling when no evidence is discovered indicating otherwise. However, something about it doesn’t sit right with Detective Erik Davidson. And he always trusts his gut.

Sparks fly when Bridget meets the gorgeous, ovary-combusting Viking descendent. She is more than happy to use her science knowledge a school connections to assist him. The case becomes a homicidal investigation when new evidence surfaces. While rendezvousing regularly to discuss the case, the urgency to figure out the who in “who dun it” is eclipsed when their feelings for each other deepen.

When miscommunication threatens to not only rock their love boat, but capsize it, something’s gotta give. But finding the killer before they strike again must take precedence while they attempt to rescue their budding romance.

Meet Bridget Cruz

High school science teacher extraordinaire. At least she thinks so. Sure she gets great results from her students on the state science exam. Thankfully the stress of trying to maintain the reputation of being the school’s best in no way dampens her natural curiosity about the science world, especially forensics. As for her love life, let’s just say “been there, done that, bought the t-shirt and so over it” is her current stance on dating. Until she finds a dead body in her classroom.

Meet Erik Davidson

Police detective extraordinaire. At least he thinks so. He’s never not closed out a case and frequently relies on his gut instinct, which usually doesn’t steer him wrong. Even his Chief trusts it. His love life is best described as opportunistic. After a relationship gone bad left a bad taste in his mouth, he no longer pursues relationships. His usual dating game is played with a “one and done” attitude—no exceptions. Until he investigates a dead body at the local high school.
