LV had an idea: to create a written record of the mostly comical student shenanigans she experienced while teaching in the classroom. She took that idea and added in a whodunit theme. But why stop there? Like a favorite dish, the recipe combines a love of science with the intrigue of a murder mystery and comes seasoned with a generous dose of humor and a pinch of romance.

First Day Back, the debut novel of the series, follows Bridget Cruz, a teacher-turned-amateur sleuth who suddenly finds herself moonlighting as a forensic guru with the crime lab after meeting the dangerously charming and dare-I-say yummy detective, Erik Davidson.

However, when the first book was complete, LV felt unfinished. The crime had been solved but she wasn’t ready to end Bridget’s and Erik’s newly formed relationship nor their potential to get entangled in trouble.

Et voilà! The Hearts and Homicides series was born.

H + H follows the evolution of their relationship, as well as the various chaotic situations they find themselves wrapped up in. And murder is always on the menu.
